Mandy Mandachit is a trained Local Coordinator for Academic Year in America (AYA) since 2010.  She is also approved by the Lincoln Public School (LPS) District to place exchange students in any of the six public high schools:

  • Lincoln North Star
  • Lincoln High
  • Lincoln Northeast
  • Lincoln Southwest
  • Lincoln Southeast
  • Lincoln East

Not limited to just LPS schools, Mandy has placed exchange students in the following high schools near Lincoln:

  • Norris
  • Palmyra
  • Malcom
  • York
  • Crete
  • Conestoga
  • Seward
  • Raymond Central
  • Columbus

Why choose AYA and Mandy?  Mandy organizes a monthly get together event for the exchange students and host families such as:

  • Going to Memorial Stadium and watching the UNL Marching Band
  • Husker game watch party at her home
  • Bonfire/cookouts
  • Going to Paint Yourself Silly to make some crafts
  • Going to meet up with other exchange students in Iowa

In addition, Mandy and her family make every effort to be an active part in the lives of the exchange students by attending sporting events or other activities the exchange students have become involved in.  They have attended many cross country meets, tennis matches, basketball games, swimming meets,  choir/band concerts, and musicals/plays.

Mandy visits with each exchange student every month.

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, she has lived in Lincoln, Nebraska since 1998.  She is married and has 2 boys who all love to take an active part in the lives of all the exchange students.


Mandy has been named AYA Local Coordinator of the Month several times:
